“Hello? Your Soul is Calling!”

Doxie 0082I want to thank Gary, friend and fellow blogger from Psychic Empaths for bringing light to the subject of Soul Calls. There is not a lot of information out there in regards to them, but Gary has several wonderful posts on the topic which you can find at  Psychic Empaths.  I think many Empaths answer Soul Calls  without realizing it. If you want to read an example of a Soul Call, Gary posted one of my stories here.

For as long as I can remember, I have been inexplicably drawn to hurting souls. Like a ship in distress, when someone is hurting (physically or emotionally) they send out a distress signal, or S.O.S. Most of the time people are completely unaware that they are doing this and are probably doing a convincing job of hiding it from the rest of the world. My empathic radar picks up on this, and more times than not, I intuitively answer without realizing what is happening.

My experiences with Soul Calls are that I never purposefully go looking for them, they just find me. I feel a strong attraction to a person and begin to feel things about them to the point of an obsession!  My love and compassion meter turns to overdrive and I feel guided by a higher power to take action. My human ego self wants to run, but some unexplainable force compels me to stay. Sometimes it is just relaying some helpful information. Sometimes it is just letting someone feel understood. Sometimes it is getting involved in a person’s life to assist them because they can no longer help themselves.

One problem with Soul Calls, is that the souls calling are usually strangers. My fear of how my message will be received by someone I don’t know tends to hold me back.  At times, I have answered calls anonymously because I felt it more appropriate depending on the situation. An easy solution would be to just ignore them altogether. Easier said than done. I can become very unsettled about a person until I answer their call. Once complete, the nagging goes away, and I move on – usually. Sometimes deep bonds are formed out of appreciation from the caller, and those are happy endings. Some calls are not welcomed. Even though their soul was obviously crying for help, they are not ready to accept assistance. Some people just flat out don’t want to hear it, but subconsciously they’ve heard it and it may need to sit with them awhile. Ultimately, each person has to help themselves, but Empaths offer gentle guidance and assistance to bring light to something they maybe cannot see.

I do believe something greater is at work during these calls. The best way to explain it is I feel an incredibly strong urge to reach out to someone. I might be compelled to say something, give someone a letter, offer physical care or give them something. I may not understand the message, but the caller usually does – that is the beauty of the gift! I am only serving as a messenger. Some of the information I have been given, I have absolutely no idea where it came from!!! I have looked back over correspondence I have sent to complete strangers and think out loud, “Who wrote this?” “That doesn’t even sound like something I would say!”

Some of the Soul Calls I have answered have touched my life in ways I will be forever grateful. To care for and love someone who is at the end of their life, was by far the most rewarding call I have ever answered. She continues to bless me from above and I thank her everyday for answering my call and showing me what gift I have and how to continue to give that gift to others.

  1. Hi Heather, What a wonderful gift you have! I image that many of your soul calls are confusing and emotionally draining. I have had experiences like this that I am unable to explain. I do know that souls calls can create a higher love between the people involved in these experiences.

    • Until one realizes what is happening, being an Empath feels very much like a curse! If only I had known then what I know now… but I guess that is life, we are always learning 🙂 If you can relate to this, you are most undoubtedly an Empath as well. You did not stubble upon this blog by accident. Maybe you needed validation for those experiences you could not explain. To know another’s soul so intimately can definitely create a bond on a spiritual level. They don’t have to be emotionally draining, but that takes lots of practice, lots!

  2. I just received a post from Earthpages.org. There is a new article –

“Attention Spiritually Sensitive People and Empaths: 9 Things You Must do to Feel Better”

I don’t know if this is related to your article, or if it is just a strange coincidence.

I talk to the blog owner by email occasionally. I’ll have to ask him. Thank you for helping those in distress.

    • Hi Belinda! Thank you for stopping by 🙂 I do not believe in coincidences, I call them synchronicities. Nothing is an accident. Thank you for sharing that article, and yes it is completely related to this subject! I hope to raise awareness for other Empaths who do not realize what they are. The items mentioned in the article are all wonderful ways to cope and I do every single one on the list! Thank you for telling me about Earthpages, I will have to follow it!
